US-Israeli genocide in Gaza

The genocidal war on Gaza continues unabated amid global inaction, as the Israeli military launches fresh attacks on residential areas. This is heart-wrenching footage from one of the latest attacks in Khan Younis. That attack on a residential apartment in Khan Yunis has left at least four people killed and dozens wounded. At least two others were killed and some others injured in an attack on a house in the Nuseirat camp in central Gaza Strip. According to Gaza’s health ministry, at least 76 people were killed on Friday. The death toll from the US-Israeli genocide in Gaza since October 2023 has topped 53,800. The majority of the victims are women and children.

Iran-US indirect talks

Fifth round of high-stakes indirect talks between Tehran and Washington on Iran’s nuclear program has concluded in the Italian capital Rome, after three hours of negotiations mediated by Oman. The Omani foreign minister, Badr Albusaedi, announced the talks had “some but not conclusive progress”. He expressed hope that the two sides clarify the remaining issues in the coming days to reach a sustainable agreement. The negotiations centered upon removal of anti-Iran sanctions and contradictory US statements. Tehran had earlier stressed that Washington’s insistence on zero uranium enrichment will lead to NO deal, adding that the two sides can reach a deal if " “zero nuclear weapons” is discussed". Some US officials have insisted on complete cessation of Iran's peaceful uranium enrichment activities. Tehran regards the enrichment an inalienable right of the country.

The war in Ukraine

Ukrainian President has confirmed that Kiev returned 390 people from Russian captivity as the first stage of a 1,000 for 1,000 exchange agreed with Russia in Istanbul. Volodymyr Zelensky said he expected the exchange to continue on Saturday and Sunday. Russia had said earlier that it had exchanged 270 Ukrainian soldiers and 120 civilians in return for the same quantities of its own. An agreement for a swap was reached earlier this month in Istanbul during the first direct talks for peace between Moscow and Kiev in more than three years. Moscow says it will send to Kiev its terms for a peace agreement as soon as the exchange of prisoners is completed.
