An Israeli assassination drone has carried out a terror strike in south Lebanon killing one person said to be a local military commander.

Mohammad Ali Jammoul, 33, was killed at dawn on Saturday in a targeted strike by an Israeli assassination drone as he was driving his car in the village of Deir Zahrani, in Nabatiyeh, southern Lebanon.

The targeted strike on Jammoul's car took place on the road alongside the Deir Zahrani-Nabatiyeh highway, near a pedestrian bridge.

According to Lebanese sources, Jammoul was on his way to the village mosque for the dawn prayers when a rocket fired by a drone directly hit his vehicle.

Israeli regime sources claimed the victim had been a Lebanese Hezbollah resistant movement's missile unit commander in the Shaqif sector.

The zionist entity forces’ assassination drone attack was preceded by intense aerial activity by several Israeli Apache helicopters operating deep inside Lebanon territory's airspace over the Nabatiyeh region, raising concerns among local residents about a possible re-escalation of violence.

The Israeli regime forces continued ceasefire violations and military attacks inside south Lebanon take place despite the November 27 ceasefire, meant to halt more than a year of hostilities with Hezbollah, including two months of open war.

The Israeli regime forces were ordered by the United Nations to evacuate all the troops from Lebanon but it has kept its boots stationed in five areas it deemed "strategic."
