Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi is set to travel to Geneva on Friday to hold talks with his European counterparts on the continued Israeli aggression.

Araghchi confirmed the news while speaking to reporters on Thursday, saying he will be meeting the foreign ministers of Germany, France and the United Kingdom in Geneva.

The top Iranian diplomat will also meet and hold talks with European Union’s foreign policy chief in the Swiss city to discuss the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic.

The visit and meetings are taking place at the request of the European troika, he said.

After his return from Geneva, Araghchi will also attend the meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in the Turkish city of Istanbul.

The OIC meeting at the level of foreign ministers will be held on Saturday and Sunday.

The focus of both the meetings in Geneva and Istanbul is the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic, which started with the assassination of high-ranking military commanders, nuclear scientists and civilians last Friday.

The unprovoked aggression followed the anti-Iran resolution passed at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) board of governors meeting in Vienna.

Iranian officials described the resolution, which was pushed by the European troika and endorsed by the United States, as politically motivated.

Pertinently, it came just two days before the sixth round of Iran-US indirect nuclear talks in Muscat, which were subsequently canceled indefinitely.

In a social media post on Wednesday, Araghchi said the whole world needs to know that Iran is merely defending itself and has adopted retaliatory measures only against the Israeli regime and not against those who are aiding and abetting the regime's crimes.

He also slammed the Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu for "destroying diplomacy," while reiterating that the Islamic Republic is not in the race for nuclear weapons.

In remarks a day earlier, Araghchi said the Israeli regime has grown “desperate.”

"They believed that by assassinating our commanders or targeting certain facilities, the Islamic Republic would become so weak that we would raise our hands in surrender. But they have neither understood nor experienced the Iranian nation," he asserted.

Referring to Iran’s past resilience, Araghchi added that the country fought for eight years and defended the land heroically, and then withstood all the sanctions and pressures.

"Our enemies must realize that they cannot reach a solution through military means. They cannot force the Iranian nation to accept their demands through coercion or threats.”
