Gaza humanitarian catastrophe

The United nations warns that Gaza’s humanitarian crisis is deteriorating to levels ‘beyond imagination’. Guterres says Israel has killed over 2,000 Palestinians since it violated the ceasefire with no end in sight for the killings in the Gaza strip. The UN chief added that Israeli military operations in the occupied West Bank, settlement expansion, and forcible displacement are dramatically altering demographic and geographic realities. Guterres made the comments at a UN Security Council meeting on Gaza. The Palestinian envoy also spoke in the session, saying that all Gazans are entitled to be protected by international law.

Canada election

Canadian Prime Minister secures victory in the country’s federal election, using his victory speech to lash out at the neighboring United States over its trade war. Mark Carney has secured another term as the Liberals approach the 172-seat majority, winning enough seats in the House of Commons to form a fourth consecutive government. Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre has already conceded defeat. This as Carney’s campaign was overshadowed by provocations and steep trade tariffs imposed by Donald Trump. Carney has framed himself as the best leader to counter Trump’s trade war and annexation threats. The Canadian Prime minister has vowed to reduce US dependence by expanding global trade ties.
