Rejecting Netanyahu remarks
Hamas has firmly rejected the Israeli Prime Minister’s latest remarks on a conditional ceasefire in Gaza and the resistance’s weapons. The movement said Benjamin Netanyahu’s comments are a continuation of his policy of deception. Hamas said Netanyahu falsely suggests his willingness to reach an agreement as international pressure is mounting on the regime over the Gaza genocide and its total ban on aid delivery. The movement rejected the Israeli premier’s conditions for ceasefire, reaffirming that it will never give up its weapons under any circumstances. It also dismissed any attempts to expel resistance’s leaders from Gaza. Hamas stressed that it remains committed to its rights, and will continue its resistance until its objectives are achieved. The statement came after Netanyahu outlined his conditions for ending the war on Gaza, including the return of Israeli captives, the expulsion of Hamas leaders from Gaza, and the complete surrender of the movement’s weapons. Netanyahu added that he will also proceed with the US president’s plan to displace Palestinians from Gaza.
Gaza humanitarian crisis
A UN committee has strongly condemned Israel’s obstruction of humanitarian aid entry into Gaza, which has put the lives of thousands of children in real danger. The Committee on the Rights of the Child expressed grave concern over reports that more than 14,000 babies could die within hours if life-saving supplies are not allowed into the besieged territory. It urged the international community to exert immediate pressure on the Israeli authorities to ensure the sustained and unimpeded delivery of essential food and medical aid to Gaza. Citing data from UNICEF and the World Health Organization, the Committee said more than 11 weeks of blocked humanitarian access have exacerbated the food security crisis in Gaza. It added that over 50 children have already died from starvation, with many more at imminent risk. It warned that if the blockade persists, additional child deaths are inevitable, and up to 71,000 children under the age of five could suffer from acute malnutrition within the next year.
Israel shooting at diplomats
The Israeli military’s move to fire warning shots at Arab and European diplomats during a visit to the occupied West Bank has drawn strong condemnation from across the globe.Hamas condemned the move as a blatant violation of all international laws and conventions. UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, also called the incident “unacceptable,” stressing that diplomats must never be targeted in any form. He urged the regime to conduct a thorough investigation and prevent repetition of such incidents. Similarly, EU foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, denounced threats to diplomats, calling for an immediate investigation into the shooting. Several EU countries, including Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal, Italy, Belgium and Spain have strongly condemned the unprovoked move by Israeli forces. France, Canada and Uruguay said they will summon Israeli ambassadors for an explanation. Across the region, Turkey, Jordan, and Egypt issued strong condemnations, calling for those responsible to be held accountable. A delegation of about 20 regional, European and Western diplomats were visiting the Jenin refugee camp on Wednesday when Israeli forces fired gunshots forcing them to run for safety.
